Thanksgiving

is coming! Yay!

We're going totally scaled back: a bird and three sides, a store bought dessert. That's right, you heard me: no gluttony. Also, no achey back, no terribly messy kitchen, no cooking all day and then not eating 'cuz you're just over it.

Good thing, too. Its been the kind of year where I need some extra time to come up with my list of things for which to give thanks. I know at least one: I won't be bushed when dinner begins and my husband won't have to spend all night at the sink.

What about you guys?

I personally feel like I've scaled it back enough for everybody. Just saying. I love you.

I'm thankful for you, too, Caddy J.

KSM--its sad to miss Thanksgiving. I remember a really sweet Thanksgiving with you all here the first November after your Mom's diagnosis. I hope that being in a place where no one is observing the day helps to make it pass a bit more easily.

I'm thankful that we've found a solution for Lindsay's schooling that, at least for now, is much much better for her. Other things occur to me, too, but that's another post.

Oh: I didn't mention one of the other motivating factors for minimalism: we're transporting it all up to the Rehab where MIL is staying these days. We have a small dining room for ourselves but there's no doubt the food will be lukewarm at best and hauling things in and then back out is plenty of work for a smallish meal not to mention getting the kids ready.

I'm shtuffin the boyfriend and myself into a Prius and hauling ourselves from Mintville (about 1.5 hours from Snow City) to Planes (like I said on my blog) that equates to 11 hours one way, tomorrow after my 8:30-5. The hosts go on "romantic trips" to foreign countries to take cooking lessons. Boyfriend's mother is a fine cook (you know the "you'll never cook as good as my mother" thing? In this case, he would probably be right) as well.

Mostly, I'm nervous. I'm meeting the only people in his family I have not met. And possibly sleeping on a boat.

What am I thankful for?

My aunt Torry.
