A Day for Lyman Medeiros

My adorable cousin, Lyman, will be playing with his Lower Level band at The Catalina Club in L.A. tonight. Its the third of three cd "launch" parties, the first two held early last summer in Indianapolis and Kalamazoo. The cd, The Funky Supervillain, is his first effort as a leader and includes original compositions as well as a few new perspectives on favorites from the jazz and pop canons. The obvious difference for tonight's show is that it is in LA---where the star makers are, baby.

Lyman is more like a little brother---the much younger one who spoiled all your fun but was relentlessly cute anyway and stole your heart in his little blue rubber boots and superhero cape. Especially since my sister passed away, I count Lyman nearer and dearer than our relationship would suggest. I wish him a great show tonight and one hell of a party to follow it up. I'm certain it will get attention for you. I can't wait to hear about it.

For those of us who can't be there, I offer you this track from The Funky Supervillain and encourage any who haven't already dones so to spend the 13 bucks to buy it. Its worth the money and then some.

'Cuz I said so. The album, the band, the cousin---they kick ass.

Ditto, baby. Felt guilty for keeping you on the line so long---

I'm digging around on the web for signs of reaction to the show. Those west-coasters are SUCH slackers!

Don't forget about the time difference. Based on your comment time, it was only 6 AM there and I'm sure musicians and music critics don't wake up that early.
