NFW WTF ATooTFM ?????

She's a little bit country; he's a little bit rock and roll... you have GOT to be kidding me.

How can this possibly be a recording of interest to any of their respective fans, to the intersection of their fans, to people who've never really paid attention to either of them?

Open message to Alison Krauss and Robert Plant: just say no! Hang out, have fun, play music together every once in a while but please, please, please don't record an album and put it out there for the world to size up... if the we want an exploration of the common ground between legendary 1970's Brit-Rock and popularized millenium bluegrass music, couldn't we do it without superstars? I think I'd be more likely to believe in its authenticity were that the case.

Ay caramaba-- I'm sitting here trying to make my Venn Diagram circles overlap. Ain't workin.

Have you actually heard the album? Robert is a singer who is equally comfortable with any genre. Alison, too, can handle many styles. She's one of the few people who can cover Robert's songs (Big Log, from her brother Viktor's album) and not make me cringe. Together they produced something that was unique and, yes, interesting to both their fan bases. Alison and Robert have similar thoughts about music. They are both interested in the history and roots, and they see no boundaries. Music is universal.

Cool for you, dude. I sincerely have no wish to hear this and will be interested to see what the market will bear and what the critics say. So far as I know, the disc hasn't yet dropped...
